About Beginning Orchestra

 

At Ann Arbor Public Schools, each student is required to take instrumental music in 5th grade, and orchestra is one of the two options to fulfill that requirement.

 

In 5th Grade Orchestra, we will learn about:

• How our instrument works

• Why posture is important

• What our bow hand does

• How our left hand is shaped

• How to make a good sound

• Basic string technique

• How to read music

• Playing with others

• Having a great time with music!
