Intermediate Orchestra

 

After 5th grade, orchestra is a class students have all chosen to be in. In 6th grade, every student in orchestra meets together in one full orchestra class three times a week - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

 

The Bass: The upright bass is a new instrument available for 6th graders! With a deeper, darker tone than even the cello, it is the instrument that completes an orchestra sound. If you're insterested in trying out the bass to see if it might be for you, check out the "Bass" page under the 6th Grade tab or talk to Ms. Luckritz!

 

In 6th Grade Orchestra we will review:

• How our instrument works

• Why posture is important

• The shape of our left and right hands

• Note reading

• Rhythms

• Finger patterns

 

We will learn:

• New advanced left hand technique

• Different bowing styles

• More intricate music

• Additional notes
